Hi! Welcome to the Get Inspired corner.
In this page you’ll find an excersice that will help you see life from a different perspective. You can follow through these five easy steps to make sure you get the best results out of this experience and boost your happiness.
Whenever you feel down, or you are facing a problem, come to this little corner of the world wide web, bring a cup of your prefered hot beverage, maybe a cozy blanket, light a scented candle, and relax.
If you like, you can also put on some relaxing music. You can use my Spotify playlist, I’ve carefully selected relaxing but upbeat songs, to make you feel inspired and motivated to get on with life.
Like I said before, for you to get the best results out of this experience, I’ve incorporated a 5 step Self-Compassion exercise. I will be explaining every step, so please keep reading.
Before you start, make sure you are completely relaxed. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths, focus on your body and how the subtle movements of breathing feel.
Note: If you have music on, make sure it is having a relaxing effect and not the other way around. If the music is making you anxoius, change it for a calmer beat.
Now that you are relaxed, let’s start.
1 Mindfulness. Aknowledge and accept that this is a moment of suffering, it may be stressing and it may hurt, yes, but supressing your feelings won’t make them go away, allow yourself to feel all of them. Now just keep in mind the need to mantain yor emotions balanced, without exaggerating them.
2 Being Human. Remember that imperfection is part of the shared human experience, and suffering is a part of life. Other people feel this way, and also have struggles, you are not alone. Keep in mind the art of happiness is also the art of suffering well.
3 Like a friend. Think about a time when a close friend has felt really bad or has struggled in some way. What do you usually say and what tone do you use with them? Now think how you respond to yourself in similar situations. Do you notice any differences?
4 Love over Fear. Try not to use self-criticism as a motivator, it will only make you feel jugded. Think of a kinder, more caring way to motivate yourself, to make you feel encouraged and supported. Remember, love is more powerful than fear.
5 Kindness. Embrace this moment with kindness and care, be patient with yourself. Put one hand over your heart, and remember you accept yourself just the way you are, you love yourself and you have no problem with giving yourself the compassion you need in this moment. Remind yourself you are strong, you are capable, you are deserving, you are loved, you are powerful, you are more than enough.
To finish up breath deeply a few times, gently move your head and neck.
A big part of practicing self-love and self-care is built on the way you treat yourself. Remember to always be kind and understanding with yourself, instead of being self-critical and harsh.
This will give you the support and comfort needed to bear the pain, while providing the optimal conditions for growth and transformation.
You can practice this exercise as many times as you need to. The more you practice, the more natural it will come for future situations.
Keep track of your progress.
